Birthday!
Abby is officially 4 years old today! We took her to Red Lobster for Mac n Cheese and cheddar biscuits. Yum yum. Mom and her friend Chris brought birthday balloons and after the meal, Abby asked if she could have cake, so I told her to ask the waitress, and sure enough the whole staff came out and sang to her. She was smiling so cute. She got a big ice cream with chocolate, whip cream and cherries. They heard it was Nathan's birthday on Friday, and they even brought him his own bowl of ice cream. I gave him a couple of licks, but he did that cringy-shudder face again, so Nana got his ice cream. Chris brought her a gift of the Cinderella DVD, which she had to watch immediately upon getting home. Also at home, she got to open a present from her Godmother and Godfather in Texas. It was a Gromit backpack. She was so excited. She had to put it on and he went around the house talking to all her other toys.
We stopped by the mall to look for a few things and let her play on the trucks. And who happened to be there but Jolly Ol' St. Nick himself. And on a Tuesday afternoon, there was no line at all. So, I asked her if she wanted to tell him what she wanted for Christmas. She hasn't had much to do with him since that first experience when she cried. She wanted to talk to him, so we went in and sure enough, she told him what she wanted. Little People and play food. Still a bit nervous, but at least she wasn't crying. She left that to Nathan. So, Merry Christmas!
PS: We had the birthday party at Oma's house, and then today was her real birthday, and we are celebrating again when Papa gets home. Telling Abby about all these different party days, she looks at me with big eyes and says, "I'm gonna be six?!!!"
