This house is tucked away behind the golf course on a quiet culdesac. It is rather small, but has a carport and has that country-surroundings feel to it because the wide open golf course is all around. Drawbacks: no neighborhood playground, close to the gold bunker, so if Charlie wanders too far, he could experience the electric fence and/or guard rifle.

This house appears to be the same rough size, but is close to an older looking playground.

And, it is on a hill. This is the backside of the house taken from the road that wraps behind it. I can see many a rolling ball/tricycle/scooter and scraped knees, elbows and bruises. Not a big fan of this one. Knowing our luck, this will be the one we get.

This is probably some of the oldest housing, but probably the largest by square footage. And it has a basement for storing stuff. (Who knows the state of the basement, tho...wet or dry? buggy? finished or unfinished?) It also has the newest playground. However, it is a duplex, so we would hear our neighbors, and is encircled by rather busy roads, so Charlie would be rather limited. By far the most "crowded" housing area. But it is within walking to a chapel, the PX, and within biking distance to Sean's work.

Hmm...they all have their pros and cons...In any event, we need to downsize SEVERELY! Anyone have a loft bed for kids they aren't using?

Some pics of the fun at the hotel pool.
Abby has a new swimsuit.

Nathan played with his color change Lightning McQueen and that got him interested in the water. (He usually hates swimming)
He really loved it after he got used to it. He's riding dolphin Mommy.

We have the two twin beds?? You can have them. Do you need to get rid of the couch/bed in the extra bedroom?? We could put that in the basement where the twin beds are... You don't have to have the mattresses if you don't want them.

We would, of course, purchase the day bed thing. Just trying to help. Do you have any other things that we can help with?

We will try and help here.

So will you be keeping your house in Illinois? And living in "base housing?" I'm confused why the choices are so limited I guess...and so I am assuming base housing...and that is why you won't be "buying?" I didn't even know he was being transferred???

we will have to sell our house here, and yes this is post housing because they have the best schools in the area. also because we may only be there a year, so buying doesn't make much sense. He's not being "transferred" per se...the BRAC closed down the building in St. Louis, so they are moving everyone to Ft. Knox.

Well I didn't know about the one year thing. News.

Fun times...how is Abby taking the news of changing schools?

Jen said...

So which house did you choose?

Catsjoy said...

she's not happy about changing schools or leaving her friend here.

and we get what we get whatever comes available when we get there. not much choice, really.

Ah...so when are you transferring? Has that date been set? And do you know how long you will be at this next duty station?

He is supposed to sign in there for work on July 5. And probably a year. Could be more.
